...Science Diet
The foods we carry at Fins & Feathers are far superior to foods such as Science Diet. The proof is on the packaging! Compare the ingredients in any of the lines we carry (such as VeRus, Acana, Innova, California Natural, Wellness, or Precise) to the ingredients in lines such as Science Diet, Pedigree, or Iams, and see the difference for yourself! Want proof? Visit the link below to see exactly why your vet would recommend such a terrible food.

...Quarantine of saltwater fish
Most often when you walk into a pet store or saltwater speciality store, you're bound to see a sick fish or two if not more.  Here at Fins and Feathers we quarantine for at least 7 days in a separate QT while preventatively treating every fish with copper and praziquantel.  This ensures that the fish you buy from us are as healthy as can be.  After the treatment and all fish are healthy, they are moved to a holding/display system where we have about 400 watts of UV light on the return line to the tanks as well as ozone injected into our skimmer.  This ensures a virtually parasite and virus free environment.  The problem other stores experience is cross contamination.  This occurs when the fish appear to be healthy but are in fact carrying some sort of parasite and then moved into the main system.  This can allow the parasite to reproduce in the main system and potentially infect other fish.  So when you make your next fish purchase, don't be afraid to ask what the QT protocol are.  If they can't tell you exactly what their procedure is then stop by and check out our fish!
